Perspective

In the quiet stillness,

of the eye,

I find my perspective,

in the storm.

Staying Positive

IMG_0420

Sometimes, being a creature of night and day, my darkness outweighs my sunshine. I hang out in the fog of my mind and mope about all the things that have not gone right. However, being a instinctively optimist person, my mind does not allow me to stay in this state of mind for too long and here are five things that I do to stay positive and get back into the sunrays of my day.

1.) Listen to Music. It usually starts out with sad songs that reflects my mood but slowly I find myself going on to the happy ones on my playlist. The transition of my moods can make a song in itself.

2.) Think about all the things that have gone right. I know when one is in a ‘sad state of mind’ this is hard, but I force myself to do it and at once I feel grateful. Writing out abstract thoughts usually happens in this phase and usually this time is the poetry hub of my mind.

3.) Take a walk. Nature can be the biggest healer when you are feeling down. The beauty and magnificence can make you feel humbled no matter what. I think about how little my worries are compared to this huge universe. I do not dismiss them as insignificant but I definitely gain perspective from the cosmos.

4.) Think about individuals who are far worse than I am and have no time to reflect on their sorrow. They worry about what to eat for the next day, or whether or not they will live. Again, I feel grateful for my health and mind, and that I am living to see today, and I feel everything else will be just fine.

5.) Count my blessings, talk to my loved ones and cuddle with my fur brother and hug my better half.

I feel light in my heart and the sky is clear in my mind. Staying positive.
