With a splatter of emotions
spread in the sky,
for the night to reflect,
the sun sets.
You and I would go for walks,
in the wee hours of dawn,
talking about little things,
like birds, chirping in the morn…
Hand in hand we would walk,
in those beautiful days,
stepping on the dry leaves,
as we walked by the lake.
I loved to see the broad smile,
that filled up your face,
when you told me stories,
of your childhood days.
I parted with you with a promise,
that we would walk again,
But you had it broken,
For you, the journey was to end.
You left me without saying goodbye,
left me with only memories to hold…
So that when I would walk again,
I would think of you some more…
Think of the birds, the trees,
and the stories that were told.
I can’t hold it against you,
though I can’t say I haven’t tried,
I was mad at you for leaving,
without saying good bye.
Well, I guess farewell wasn’t a word in your book,
You did prefer sunrise,
So I will remember the walks in the dawn,
till I see you again, and get a chance to say “Hi”
**This was written a while ago as a tribute to my grandfather ( dad’s dad) who passed away when I was fifteen. For those of you who have been following my blog, this is my other grandpa not the same one I mentioned in the post On Goodbyes and See you laters . He is my mom’s dad and is still living. Both of them are very special to me.
