Glass – #Writephoto

And the foggy glass
reflected her faint memories
of summer flies and green meadows
of childhood
when she used to smile.

Grandma’s Lap

Sometimes what she missed most about being a child was sleeping on her grandma’s lap, dreaming of all the characters in the fairy tales she heard before sleep. Her mind clear, without the veil of worries haunting her. Her heart free of the heavy weight she felt as an adult, of the things that needed to get done, of places she needed to be, of people she needed to heed.

She missed the innocent nights where she would just talk, all night, with her grandma about nothing and everything, without being judged…from the number of cookies she ate that day to the new friend she made at the park. Her grandma in turn would tell her about her own childhood stories of being the only girl in school growing up, about her favourite dish as a child, about her own grandma who she grew up with. They would lay there laughing about the neighbour next door who was too loud, they would talk about the fish they bought from the market that day. She missed her grandma’s laugh when she hugged her, but what she missed most was falling asleep on her grandma’s lap.

What are your fondest memories of Your Favourite Place?

Hi Everyone,

As many of us look ahead to the long weekend coming up and building new memories …I want to ask my fellow friends and bloggers…what are some of your fondest memories you have in your favourite place or places? Could be a recent or a childhood tale…or anything in between… Please share in the comment section! Looking forward to reading many stories 🙂

Here are a few of mine:

One of my favourite childhood memories was visiting my grandparent’s house in India during summer vacations…the train ride…the long walks with my  grandfather, the numerous stories that I made him tell me…were all part and parcel of what made it so special…

Another was a trip my Mom and I took to Montreal…it was a girl’s trip…My mom and I share are very close bond and  we had an awesome time touring Montreal on the tour buses! 😀

My trip with my husband to Kerala was perhaps one of the most memorable trips with the house boat experience and the quiet time we got to spend with each other away from everything…in the scenic beauty of nature.

Dust of Childhood

I trace with my finger,

the dust that settled with time,

over these old pages of mine,

as I remember,

my once favourite book,

with fond memories,

of childhood,

as I reminiscence,

with this dust of childhood.

cool fall

Sunset of Childhood

The sunset of childhood…

never  fades away,

revisiting you with love,

in different times of day,

through the broken window,

of innocence.
