Quarantined Friday

It seems like ages
but there used to be a time
when you wished
that you could be home
on a Friday…
now that the days have blended together
and time has lost some of its essence
Friday poses to be just another day,
when in fact it is still nothing but…
yes, we are tired of being home
yes, we wonder how it will be to have coffee
outside these four walls
yes, We want to Hug our friends
not smile at them across screens…
but we are safe
and continue to be
while we are here
we are keeping our healthcare and essential workers safe
by maintaining the distance
we are sipping our wine
and reading our books
and binge watching our favorite shows
and being grateful
for being healthy…
and we are partying in our pajamas
dancing and talking,
with our loved ones at home
and connecting where it matters…
in the matters of the heart…
this too shall pass,
and in days to come,
when we are old,
we will look back at this time fondly
and remember quarantined Fridays
with the ones we loved

but until then

Happy and Healthy Friday to all of you!

  1. It is a time of taking care of others, of patience, and of resocializing in a new way. I am enjoying it actually but also looking forward to the time after.

  2. Beautifully said! Wishing you happy healthy Friday and everyday ahead to you too 🙂 Such interesting times!

  3. Each and everything you said I could relate to. Beautiful

  4. You summed up what so many of us are going through. Take care 🙏

  5. A very nice poem, Neha, so encouraging and always looking at the bright side of life. Yeah! Well it is Saturday now so I wish you a Happy Weekend and days to come. Let us make the best of the quarantine, care for others even if it is in the distance and send the world positive energy to cope better with life’s adversities and uncertainties. Hugs, Marta. PS: Correct a typo on line 7: “and time has lost some of it essence”, its essence. 😊

  6. Yes…I hope people remain this way, concerned for others, community focused, and worried about the things that really matter- food, shelter, warmth, family, friends taking care of each other

  7. I agree dear poet. We need to use the time wisely. Read the books, you didn’t have time to read. Write the great novel and spend time with the family. Help, who you can. Hello my friend. I hope you are doing well and be safe.

    • Thank you for the kind message John, we are trying to keep safe and be well and do all those things you mentioned…hope you and your loved ones are all okay and keeping well! Much love!

  8. Happy Friday to you, too. Hopefully, once we have adjusted to this situation, we can use our time productively and eventually see it as a gift.

  9. True that Neha. Its unprecedented time and we have to keep our positivity up
