Mother’s Heartbreak

It carries through a thousand seas,
beyond the tears in you and me,
it stops the flowers in mid-bloom,
and the evening sun senses it too…
As it bleeds red into the sky,
embracing the mother’s cry,
the world seems to fall apart,
trying to heal a mother’s heart.

It carries through a thousand seas
Beyond the tears in you and me
conquering heaven with every breath,
A mother feels her heart break…

This is dedicated to the families in Florida who lost their loved ones in the recent school shooting…This is especially to the mother’s whose grief is beyond what I can imagine…My heartfelt condolences and love to the families who have gone through such horrific tragedies, in Florida and elsewhere. Let there be peace, let there be hope, let there be love.

  1. Many thanks for this gem. It allows me to have a peek into my mom’s grief when she lost oldest daughter (my oldest sister). I was very young then. She was standing in the living room in front of the window. And I stood next to her lookiing up at her face. She stared through the glass window as her tears incessantly dripped.

I didn’t realize the magnitude of her grief then. As I perused through your elegantly written piece, I could almost feel my mom’s pain and despair.

Thanks for opening the door that allows me to understand the incomprehensible and to feel my mom’s heart at that dark moment in time.

I’ve really enjoyed all your writings that I’ve read. And truly, I appreciate you.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words and sharing your personal story…I am so sorry for your loss, I saw my grandma go through this when we lost my uncle…I cannot fathom the grief of these mothers but just the thought is heartbreaking…Thank you again for your thoughts and my best wishes to you and your family…

  2. Beautiful tribute. It’s heartbreaking how cruel people can be. No parent should ever have to bury their child

  3. Thank you for your powerful poem helping us to grieve the senseless deaths in Florida.

  4. Beautiful words. Thank you so much for sharing.

  5. Neha, it is very overwhelming and a true reflection of a mother’s grief who lose their kids to this senseless accidents. Being a mother we can’t fathom the pain they are going through right now. We are living in a senseless country where the cost of lobbying and the pretense of protecting the second amendment outlives the life of a kid.

  6. The reality is heartbreaking Neha. You penned a lovely poem in memory of those who lost their lives and for the ones who survived such a terrible tragedy.
    Thank you

  7. Beautifully expressed Neha. Thanks for your compassionate words.

  8. You are excellent.

  9. You could not have expressed it better. I am deeply touched by all I have just read by you. This poem here is a lovely and passionate tribute to all these families in grief. I am sure each and every person will truly appreciate your words. You have a marvelous poet soul. Your ability to produce beauty and truth is amazing and, at the same time, you are not some abstract understandable poet but someone accessible. Great job!

  10. Sorry, I did not mean understandable poet but ununderstandable. You know how to reach and touch people.
