Beautiful Poem by Rob 🙂
Respect, like water,
Dribbles from the table,
Unable to be contained,
Spreading, falling, fast.
In its free-fall
Each drop contains an element
Of you,
A particle
Once held in esteem,
Once looked upon with awe
And reverence.
Yet now it falls,
Tainted,
Broken,
Alone.
In its endeavour to be part of
It lost its allure,
Heralding secrets,
It divided from the pack
And now it floats alone,
With its brothers,
To the floor.
Water running where there was no bridge,
Tide flowing where there was no sea,
Illusion splintered
Splashed upon the floor.
Together no more.

Day 4 NaPoWriMo and the prompt is to write a love or break-up poem. “Try to write a poem that expresses the feeling of love or lovelorn-ness without the traditional trappings you associate with the subject matter.” Hope I succeeded?
